Let me give it to you straight. Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds. Chemically, optically and physically, they are the same. A GIA gemologist with a loupe cannot tell them apart. It takes a specialized machine.

So What's the Difference?

Origin. Natural diamonds formed in the earth over a billion years. Lab grown diamonds are made in a reactor in a few weeks. That's the entire difference.

Price Is Falling Fast

Five years ago lab grown sold at maybe a 30% discount to natural. Today the discount is 80 to 90% and still falling. The reason is simple: lab capacity keeps scaling, and once you can make something on demand, the price collapses. This is a feature for buyers, and a problem for resale.

What Natural Still Has

Rarity. A natural diamond is finite. A lab grown is not. If you're buying for love, neither matters. Both are beautiful, both sparkle the same. If you're buying as a long-term store of value, natural still holds it. Lab grown does not, and pretending otherwise is dishonest.

My Honest Take

Neither is wrong. It depends on what you value. Want maximum size and sparkle for your dollar? Lab grown. Want a stone that holds its value and carries the romance of geology? Natural. Just know what you're buying before you buy it. That's the rule that doesn't change.
