A woman’s gold necklace was recovered after a street robbery in Santa Ana on November 4, with three suspects located and a fourth still sought, according to local reports citing the Santa Ana Police Department.
Officers responded around 10:26 p.m. near 406 W. 17th Street after several people allegedly assaulted the woman and took her necklace. Patrol officers and the department’s Eagle-1 helicopter crew found three suspects shortly afterward. The victim identified them, and officers recovered the necklace from one of them, New Santa Ana reported.
Hoodline’s account also describes the recovery and continuing search for a fourth suspect. Neither report establishes the woman’s age or identifies a bicycle or moped as part of this incident.
Keep your safety ahead of your jewelry
Chain snatching remains a real concern for people wearing jewelry outside. Whether you are walking in California or New York, pay attention to people closing distance around you, including on bicycles or mopeds. A vehicle alone is not evidence of criminal intent. In a separate New York case, the NYPD is seeking two people on mopeds after a Park Avenue jewelry robbery; there is no established connection between the cases.
The Long Beach Police Department’s robbery-safety guidance recommends staying alert, limiting visible high-value property, avoiding resistance and never chasing a robber. If you are threatened, prioritize getting through the encounter safely and call 911 when safe. Wearing jewelry never makes a victim responsible for someone else’s violence.
