Some days in this business remind you exactly why you fell in love with it in the first place. This was one of them.
Before another episode of Let's Rap About It got underway at IFC Factory, I sat down to do what I do best: clean and inspect a collection worth admiring. First up was Maino (@mainohustlehard). As he put his pieces back on, he didn't leave. He pulled up a seat right across from me and stayed as I moved on to clean Jim Jones' (@jimjonescapo) collection next.
That's when the conversation turned into something bigger than jewelry.
Maino and I started reminiscing about the first time we crossed paths back in 2014. Somewhere in that conversation, we realized we had more in common than the industry. We'd both come up in the Louis Armstrong Houses in Brooklyn. That single detail turned an industry connection into an instant bond, and a mutual respect that's carried all the way to today.
A lot has changed since 2014. My business has grown, evolved, and taken on new chapters, from building my name in the grillz world to launching Diamond Dazzler. But one thing hasn't changed: Maino's support. He's never hesitated to show up for me, and that kind of consistency means everything in an industry where loyalty is rare and rarely free.
So there I was, cleaning one legend's collection while another legend sat across from me, trading stories about where we started and how far we'd come. It's the kind of moment that reminds you why relationships outlast trends, and why the people behind the pieces matter just as much as the pieces themselves.
